You can't swing a dead cat in Meriden without hitting a Carabetta.

Knowing who that family is, I am sure that there are some who would like to throw dead cats, dogs and chickens at them.

The name Carabetta does unfortunately stir up a lot mixed feelings. One family didn't do themselves any favors by throwing an over the top super sixteen birthday party filmed by MTV for their daughter this year. The cost was well into six figures for a top of the line banquet facility, jewelry, new car, fireworks and the list goes on.

Bobby, if he had been invited would have walked out. The Renda name is also 'interesting'.

if someone has the cash to blow- why is it anyone else's business? People with money spend it all the time. Who amoung us has not spent beyond our means to party from time to time? If this bash was within the family's means- why should you criticize it? jealous?? I wonder.
The only question to me- is why someone with money would want to live in murdin????

If you have money you should be ashamed of yourself.

Any sixteen year old that tell's her Mother to f off on a national tv program shows that money doesn't buy class or respect. Especially when the parent's not only reward bad behavior but reward it further. She is Meriden's version of Paris Hilton.

Don't judge all the Carabetta's by the way Nicki and Sammy are raising their kids. Joey and his wife are still grounded, and are raising great kids. Still, it's sad to see how the 3rd generation of that family has taken their grandparents hard work for granted.

Sorry jma, you have the wrong family, exact opposite threw the party for their sixteen year old daughter. It was Joey & his wife's daughter not Sammy's. Isn't he divorced from Nikki? However you are correct, both the second and third generation are taking the grandparents hard work for granted. I pray they were not shown the MTV video, I am sure none of their kids would have ever told their parent's to f off.

Wow, I'm shocked! Joey's kids always seemed to be much better behaved. I've seen Sammy & Nikki's kids in action (as well as Sammy & Nikki), and automatically assumed it was them! How sad for the grandparents.

I can understand why you would have thought that and I would not have mentioned whose daughter it was until you mentioned Sammy & Nikki. Very sad. I'm surprised especially at Joey's wife's attitude on the video.
I didn't want to mention any names because I fear they have put too much information on the web. The daughter keeps bragging about how they have a private zoo and live on 300 acres. She then goes on to show off her home, her bedroom and closet full of Jimmy Choos (sp?) designer handbags, big name designer clothes and jewelry rattling off what everything cost. That is why I called her the Paris Hilton of Meriden.

The daughter who brags should be put in the zoo. Anyone who brags about the things they have(without contributing to all of it) should be put in a cage for bad behavior. Give her a banana and let her swing from a tree, I say.

be aware that just as some posters have attempted to "out" others in the past- all of us are delusioned if we think we remain annon on this site.
People with resources, ie; the Carrabettas- could easily find out the names of the people obviously slandering with jealousy showing every inch of the way.
while I distain the very name brands and excess shown on the MTV show- I condone their right to spend their money the way they please. because if things go the way I hope- the rich like them will be taxed to pay for the rest of our health care!!!!

What goes around comes around. Of course they can spend their grandparent's & parent's money on whatever they want. As I stated I would fear for their safety. I would never post a link to the video or give the name of the sixteen year old for people to look for. (that is something that one of her peers or so called friends might do) If someone finds out my identity so be it. I refuse to live in fear of anyone. Mr Carabetta Sr was one of the nicest men I ever knew. He never received credit for all the good he did and people unfortunately love to rip those that have worked hard for what they have earned when ever they can.

I've heard that said before, I'm just wondering if you can prove that? Which of his properties are you speaking of? I do agree we have more than our share of low income properties, but some are based on a sliding scale of what one earns. I don't begrude anyone making money legally and even with all their money they all still live in Meriden. Not like others who make their money here but live elsewhere. I speak of all the absentee two and three family landlords which I believe are an even bigger problem.
The public housing complexes aren't run by Carabetta so you can't pin that one on them. If you check the number of police calls to the Mills (public housing) and compare them to the Carabetta apartments right across the street, you'd be surprised at the numbers. Same neighborhood, similiar apartments, yet very few problems in Carabetta's apartments.

All this ranting and raving about the wrong people. They are looking for Bobby Carabetta who grew up near City Park in Meriden. I am 99.9% sure that he passed away last year or the year before. He went into the service for awhile and then came back to Meriden. To answer the question, I would look at the past obits from the RJ or put a call in to Ferry's

MERIDEN - Robert P. Carabetta, Jr., 37, son of Robert P. and Ann (Day) Carabetta, Sr. died on Saturday, June 13, 2009 at MidState Medical Center.
Robert was born in Meriden on March 26, 1972; he attended local schools, and graduated from Horace C. Wilcox Technical School. Robert proudly served in the U.S. Marines. He was employed as a painter, he was a talented handyman and a long time New York Yankee fan.
In addition to his parents, Robert Sr. and Ann, Robert is survived by his fiancé, Miriam Renda, of Meriden; a sister, Lori Carabetta and her fiancée, John Nelson, of Southington; his grandmother, Constance Carabetta, of Meriden; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

As for the MTV show....I was at the Pet store in Staples Plaza in Wallingford in the fall. An older female Carabetta (mama? auntie?) was wearing the a "Happy Super Sweet 16 -----" t-shirt from a daughter's/cousin/niece's super sweet sixteen party, with short cut off jean shorts. She was extremely tan, had the typical long french manicured nails, and drove off (with a son/nephew/teenage boy at the wheel) in either an Audi or BMW. Money doesn't buy class...

The Mother, daughter & divorced sister-in-law are delusional at best. It is a very sad tale which may unfortunately end up in tragedy if they don't wake up. Such a young lives already wasted. They may think they are all the rage but the reputation of the former sweet sixteen party girl is ruined and will follow her for all her days. Can she change, of course but does she want to, one can only hope.

there is no way Bobby could have possibly attended this party.
Two different stories, SapphireGirl. We got a bit sidetracked posting about the Carabetta family.
Bobby apparently died in 2009. Sorry.
