Concerning Rev Wright and Obama
Does anyone doubt that this isn't a concerted effort by Clinton and her cronies to derail Obama's run? They're going to do damage to him but not enough to stop him from getting the nomination but they will do enough damage to him to prevent him from getting elected.
At this point I believe Clinton isn't trying for the nomination, she's doing her best to ensure that he doesn't get elected so she can run again 2012.
Politics are not a game to be played by children and the Clintons are the modern day masters of it.

I sometimes think that Bill doesn't want her elected with some of the things he has said and done. Having said that this is her only chance, and this is the lamest Presidential election I have ever witnessed. None of the candidates impress me.

None of the candidates impress me much either, but the Republicans have to go.

My boyfriend and I watched the NAACP Freedom fund speech in it's entirety Sunday night. We really enjoyed Rev. Wright's speech and the intro given by the Detroit NAACP president and we agreed with what was said, the "giving truth to power."
People will say Wright is an egomaniac, he is hurting Obama, etc. However, I don't want another phony like Clinton running for the Democrats; I liked someone who gave truth to power. That someone was Obama, who has the ability to bring people together at the table who have very different viewpoints. I still think he deserves that chance but if Rev. Wright alone has indeed alienated white blue collar voters, the value to this country from this election will largely have been the discussion between the two separate worlds that went on. Ministers have been preaching like Rev. Wright for a mighty long time. I heard on the news last night that the speech MLK would have given next, had he not been assassinated, was entitled "America is going to hell."
What am I to conclude from all this long overdue discussion going on in America that has been hurled to the forefront by Obama running for president?
Frankly, that white blue collar workers dismissed the prophetic voices emanating from the black churches/civil rights movement and chose instead to cling to a white-washed version of a "safer" MLK than MLK was in real life, a non-threatening version, if you will.
Like the Detroit NAACP, I do believe a change is gonna come. That is the uplift from the prophetic voices that rise in righteous indignation, spurring an impetus for change. They always have but many people were not paying attention because they gambled on ignoring, dismissing those voices as extraneous to real power in this country. Obama threatens the status quo in the sense that Rev. Wright and others would have a place at the table as well, for a change.
I think Fox News and Lou Dobbs are more involved in using this discussion to bring Obama down than Hillary Clinton. Although she will use it to her advantage as she always has, consummate politician that she is.
The bright side for me? Looks like I may be able to vote for Ralph Nadar in CT, if the end result is McCain for the Republicans and Clinton for the Dems! And I think Obama did us all a favor, even if he loses the primary, because of the conversations that were had.

If I had any respect for Hillary at some point and time, I sure have lost it for good now..
She should now just drop out of the race - throw her support to Obama - for the purpose of getting rid of all things BUSH in November, SHE is dividing the Democratic party to a point where I don't think it can repaired...and McCain will be our next president.
And I also listed to Reverend Wrights Speech.... my take on it was....sorrry - Does he what Obama to Loose????....good grief.

I found a poll on Tom Joyner's Black America Web today - 36% said Wright is doing just fine, 34% agree with Wright but think he should sit down and be quiet and a lesser percentage of voters felt Wright was hurting Obama and helping Clinton. At least there is one website out there where the majority votes the way I do! Does my heart good ...
PS I wouldn't vote for Hillary Clinton in 2008 and I can assure you she won't get my vote in 2012, either.

Rev. Wright has found his platform and fifteen minutes of fame. I stand by my earlier statement that this is the lamest election I have ever witnessed. I wish voter's would pay more attention to the House and Senate which have lower approval ratings than Bush but we keep sending them back most of the time. The Democrats promised much in the last election and haven't delivered. Excuse after excuse. I'm sure Rev. Wright is at odds with Bill Cosby whose book I believe everyone shoud read no matter what race they are. It's about personal responsibility which is lacking across the board these days. It's always someone's else' fault. No one is perfect, but I will listen to Mr. Cosby before I give a second thought to Rev. Wright.

Yes, once again, it's a classic case of the old W. E. B. Du Bois/Booker T. Washington argument. No one budges an inch; the same argument goes on and on and on.
Seemed like the door between two worlds opened briefly and with Obama's speech yesterday, the door slammed shut. I haven't changed my mind on voting for Obama but I am darn sure he knew of his pastor's black liberation/ afrocentric beliefs. If anything, Wright has a point about Obama the politician. The spin begins ... hope the National Enquirer articles I see in the grocery store are not true, that Obama cheats on his wife.

Time will tell how much damage has been done to Obama from his 'Paster'. Using GD in a House of Worship is wrong no matter what the subject. I believe in a Higher Spiritual power, but not much of 'organized' religeon. I pose this question to Collie, are you aware of the experiments that were done on black soldiers I believe after WW II? (I am playing Devil's Advocate here) Of course this was over sixty years ago but it still happened. Having said that why are the American citizens of Japanese heritage who suffered the most during that terrible time able to move on but not the Rev. Wright's? I have a black friend who grew up in the segregated South who is now retired. She moved up North as a young girl and even with segregation she preferred the Southern way of life. After marriage and raising their family with great success here in Meriden they have downsized and moved out of town. They were one of the best neighbor's we ever had. We learned a lot from each other and still do.

I don't 'hate' anyone. It will be interesting to see what the results are next week. I refuse to register with any party although I would like to vote in some primaries. Sad to say both parties members will fall lock step behind their particular nominees. I still think this is the lamest Presidential election I've ever witnessed. We need to pay more attention to who we send to the Senate and House where bills and laws are made. That is where the real power is and I like to refer to them as Professional Politicians. On both sides of the aisle there are many who have never held a real job! The President has the power to sign or veto whatever is sent by them. Which is probably why their approval ratings are lower than the Presidents.
