School System

I have recently moved to meriden. My son is in his second week at Roger Sherman kindergarten. He seems to like it. Any feed back on this school?

Tammy, as a life long resident of Meriden, and a parent of a former student in the school system...my suggestion is if you can afford a private school send him there instead. Though I never attended Roger Sherman, and it would have changed in these past many years. My expiereance with the schools in this city were not very good, and the were worse for my daughter.
Bullying is alive and well in this system, and nobody seems to do anything about it.

If he likes it and seems to be learning try it for the rest of the year. I sent three kids through the system; two of them K-12. One went to a private school to overcome problems with math. They have all done fine.
Bullying can be a problem in any school and it was serious in the Meriden schools
leading to the suicide of one student a few years back. This eventually led the State to pass an anti-bullying statute which is currently in force. I don't know how well it's working in the schools but I would give it a chance at least for a year.Making periodic contact with your son's teacher is also advisable. Good luck and don't panic.
