Did you know that the Meriden Humane Society:
1) In 2007 they placed 191 dogs, and 863 cats.
2) They are privately run relying on only private donations. Without the help they receive from the community they would not be able to save so many animals.
3) They rescued 149 animals from abandoned homes in 2007.
4) Many animals at the MHS are taken from high risk situations like high kill pounds, cruelty investigations and from private residents who are no longer able to care for the animal.
5) They started a trap/neuter/release program focusing mostly in Meriden, but stretching as far as West Haven.
6) Their vet bills alone are $8000 - $10,000 per month.
