:o This comment was in today's paper (2/6/08)in the Reader's Opinions section. I did not write this! I dont want to list the author's name though without his permission. The author is a male.

"Intelligent"
"Editor: When I was in school, I believed that females were more intellegent then the males. After high school graduation, I observed that the females went to college, and the males went to work. In my opinion, females are more intelligent than males. That's why I'm voting for Hillary Clinton. She could put our country back to where it belongs."

I would love to hear other people's opinion on this statement. As a female, I guess I should be happy with it, but it almost shocked me that someone, esp. a male would write this. I think it is a huge overgeneralization to say that females are more intellegent than men. And to use this generalization to compare political opponents!

I felt that I had to share this article with someone! It almost sounds wise, but it also sounds absurd!:o

I read it, and figured this writer was a big fan of "K.I.S.S.". (Keep it simple, stupid!) Doesn't get much simpler than that! I got a chuckle out of it, but didn't take it much further than that!

I agree, jma - but it did brighten my day a little bit!

One should neither vote for or against a candidate based on race or sex. Both are meaningless. Intelligence is not gender based nor race based.

I understood in my preteens that females were much smarter then males and used it to my advantage by marrying a very brite girl who guided me thru the pittfalls of the 60's and 70's.
To this day I still seek advice from my female relatives and freinds.
So smartten up fellows.and take it from a 70 year old. Ask the girl.!!!

Its a screen printing, embroidery, graphics company. I think its advertising and should go. Besides, her comments do not add much and border on simply posting to post. Reported to CMT...let him decide.

There's different kinds of intelligence.

Women generally have a higher intuitive and emotional intelligence then men. They're (we're) better communicators and judges. We see the whole picture and all the difference shades therein. But I think, again overall, male intelligence is clearly more spacial, visual, logical and scientific...again these are all generalizations.

I don't think either gender is more intelligent then the other, its simply what we as a society value, that makes us want to deem one sex higher in smarts then the other. Right now our society is tending to favor the feminine aspects of human intelligence.

There are absolutely no reliable statistics to make generalizations about any human attributes based upon gender alone. Even reproduction. Scientists have theorized that a man can carry a full term baby in his abdomen and deliver by c-section based upon the observation that some women have had these types of pregnancies without complications. It is rare, having happened to women only 4 times in the world according to the article. Rare indeed and usually does not go to full term but it has happened much to doctor's amazement more than once. Based upon this, they theorize that a man could carry to full term. As evidence this link:

http://www.ctv.ca/servlet/ArticleNews/story/CTVNews/20050926/miracle_baby_050926/20050926?hub=Health

And a quote from the article: ""If the appropriate conditions are created like hormones, any living person either woman or man could conceive," Dr. Han told CTV News."

Human DNA is still yet to be fully understood and we are constantly changing and evolving.

I have observed the following stereotype busting behaviors:

1. Female bodybuilders - make some men look like girls.
2. Transsexuals who dress better than some women do.
3. Homosexuals who love their children better than biologicals parents do.
4. Men who have more compassion than women in many cases.
5. Women who drive better than some men do.

The list goes on and on...

All generalizations can be broken in some way. Are they true for the most part, well perhaps. There are differences in gender based upon genetics, like bearing children, hormone levels etc. But these things are not nearly as reliable a metric as one's one individual judgment on a personal level regarding attributes that defy qualification through medical science.
