"You did not do your homework", teacher said,
He went off to the corner, hung his head,
Teacher is mean,
She should have seen,
He meant to.
Every time he had a highschool date,
He never got there early, always late,
Where did she go,
Didn't she know
He meant to?
He never got to work when he was due,
He wondered why they told him he was through,
"Why punish me,
Why can't they see
I meant to".
When he arrived the wedding guests were gone,
He would have driven faster if he'd known,
The bride just cried,
He wished he'd tried,

He never went to church or learned to pray,
So when it came to final judgement day,
The gates were closed,
But heaven knows,
