The Paradise I Lost
*
My fear sends me into soft slumber
Where momentarily I find my utopia
Daybreak disturbs my City in the Sun
And I endure yet another perfection continuum.
*
I remain tranquil under sails of gold
Where Arcadia’s shores beckon to Albion
Storms at sea wreck me on unholy land
And I Imagine ideals of a Brotherhood of Man.
*
Finding no refuge in a critically conscious state
I prison myself in my own Shangri-La
Locking my mind where it’s evil does no harm
And away from Modern Man’s Animal Farm.
*
Haunted by ghosts from a complex illusion
Where bloody skies overcast a Lost Horizon
I am darkened and thrown by a republican’s call
And witness Armageddon through my own Crystal Ball.
*
Visions of a paradise where it rains sunny rays
Where I dive into crystal streams all covered in gold
I am removed from heaven by a patrolling seraph
And I open my judging eyes: our world is perfect enough.
