I watch the ants rush to and fro,
Hurrying, scurrying as they go
Past the same place many times,
It looks as though they've lost their minds
And don't know what their duties are
When contemplated from afar.
See the people as they go,
Hurrying, scurrying to and fro,
Their journey is not clear to me,
Are they going aimlessly?
And does it seem a bit bizarre
When contemplated from afar?
Life is full of analogies
And this one is very clear to me,
The species know the true intent
Of what the frenzied movement meant
To each, as to their task they cling,
And to the species meaning bring,
Rushing madly to and fro,
Hurrying, scurrying as they go.
Hurrying, scurrying as they go
Past the same place many times,
It looks as though they've lost their minds
And don't know what their duties are
When contemplated from afar.
See the people as they go,
Hurrying, scurrying to and fro,
Their journey is not clear to me,
Are they going aimlessly?
And does it seem a bit bizarre
When contemplated from afar?
Life is full of analogies
And this one is very clear to me,
The species know the true intent
Of what the frenzied movement meant
To each, as to their task they cling,
And to the species meaning bring,
Rushing madly to and fro,
Hurrying, scurrying as they go.
